I was wondering if someone could post a NAND flash backup of Cacko 1.23 with Debian Jumbo allready installed for the Zaurus SL-C1000 so I can try debian on it? I would love to try it out. I have had trouble getting it to start from all the links in this site. Thank you in advance.

You can't install Cacko from a NAND backup.
-
why not? goto diag menu and backup the rom then he just restores the backup, simple...of course he would have to at least run the fix 64mb nand limit utility first.

I am willing to even Paypal $20.00 US anyone who would be willing to do this for me and for others who have the same problem. I know it can be done because every now and then I switch between Cacko 1.23 NAND backup and pdaxrom RC.12 NAND backup that I have created. Thanks again.

Send me the links to the Debian Jumbo and I'll install it and rip a NAND.
Any other apps you want installed?

Installing the packages isn't a big deal, but getting a NAND that will reload is.
I've created a NAND from Cacko 1.23 with Japanese ipks but when I try to restore the NAND it complains about format errors
So far I've tried 3 different CF cards, I'm going to try a SD card next to see if that is the problem.
I can restore the NAND image that I downloaded from the net and ones I burn before I install Cacko, but not the ones I created after Cacko.
Anyone else had this problem?
Sorry for the delay

dunno I always did the reflash to cacko then restore...

dss, before I say this please don't take offence this isn't levelled at you but a general observation.
Guys, I advise strongly against distributing NAND images of your Zaurus unless you have previously just zero's the device by restoring a clean NAND image and have absolutely no personal data on it.
Deleting personal data is not enough to purge it from a jffs2 image. jffs2 is very particular that it will only zero blocks when it needs them - this is to prolong the life of the flash device.

well, thanks for trying at least. It's odd because I NAND flash back and forth between pdaxrom and cacko weekly. I use a Lexar 512 mb CF card. I know for sure it can be done, but as iamsmith says there maybe a security issue that I was unaware of. I wasn't expecting a personalized NAND backup but one left in a default state along with debian. oh well live and learn. I allways thought that having a complete NAND to dowload and restore would be easier than installing everything all over again from the beginning. I hope one day to try out debian on my Z but everytime I try it fails and it is disappointing to say the least.
over and out.
