Title: Silly Question?
Post by: Jack B Nimble on February 22, 2006, 12:38:03 am
So, this may sound like a silly question, but I just want to be sure.

One of the short comings of the Nokia 770, and the fact that it is not really designed to be a PDA, is that it cannot wake itself from standby to sound off an alarm.  I am looking at buying a c1000 (or maybe a c860, if I find a really good deal), and probably installing Cacko, but I want to make sure it will be able to do the job.

So, is it a silly question?

Jack

My experience is that Cacko and pdaXrom (with some tweaking) will wakeup and give you a bonk on the head when using the Korganizer/Pi application.

I use my Zs for reminders all the time.  With kopi, I customize the alarm sounds so they can be very unobtrusive or very obnoxious.  It will also list what alarms you have missed while you were gone.

If you've been reading the maemo mailing list you'll see that this is being actively discussed with Nokia and will be fixed.
