Title: Playstation2 Pdaxrom First Trying - Just For Fun
Post by: sashz on February 22, 2006, 10:40:35 am
No need internal HDD, just USB flash  But need modchip for boot CD

http://mail.pdaxrom.org/1.1.0beta1x/PS2/linuxps2.iso (http://mail.pdaxrom.org/1.1.0beta1x/PS2/linuxps2.iso)
http://mail.pdaxrom.org/1.1.0beta1x/PS2/linuxps2.iso.md5sum (http://mail.pdaxrom.org/1.1.0beta1x/PS2/linuxps2.iso.md5sum)
http://mail.pdaxrom.org/1.1.0beta1x/PS2/ps2Xrom.tar.bz2 (http://mail.pdaxrom.org/1.1.0beta1x/PS2/ps2Xrom.tar.bz2)
http://mail.pdaxrom.org/1.1.0beta1x/PS2/ps....tar.bz2.md5sum (http://mail.pdaxrom.org/1.1.0beta1x/PS2/ps2Xrom.tar.bz2.md5sum)

Prepare flash storage:
create and format partition on USB storage for ext3, first or second. I made second because first in vfat - Archos AV700 as USB harddrive :-)
unpack rootfs (ps2Xrom.tar.bz2) to ext3 partition
Connect storage, keyboard to PS2 USB
Connect Network cable to LAN (optional)
Burn CD.
Insert CD to PS2

If you havent VGA cable from official PS2 Linux kit, press during CD bootup Select + R1 for NTSC or Select + R2 for PAL on your TV.
From menu select BOOT and there:
Linux USB/1 for booting from USB disc partition 1
LInux USB/2 for booting from USB disc partition 2

Dont worry about modprobe warnings:)
login as "root" with passwd "zzz"

On default DHCP for LAN. Edit /etc/sysconfig/netconfig/eth0.conf for static IP.

Great work!
Quite OT, but some of us seem to have a Siemens Simpad (Which is kinda supported by OE) and Support for my fav. embedded distribution pdaXrom simply would ROCK!

Greetings from Berlin/Germany
Chris
