Title: Irda Not Working In Cacko 1.23
Post by: andrewmaier on February 23, 2006, 06:25:45 pm
Hi,

I am having no success in trying to use IRDA on my C3100 under Cacko 1.23. With my "old" C760 with cacko 1.22b beaming files (addresses, meetings) works fine. Is anyone else having this problem?

Has anything changed concerning with IR from 1.22 to 1.23? Or perhaps since the hardware is different, a different /etc/irda.conf file is necessary?

Any hints welcome

Andrew

Ok,

so I found the solution: I had installed the dummy-dev package, which (for the Cxxx) at least creates a dummy network so that NetFront does not ask you if you want to start a network connection. Looking at the package content, it installs a kernel module (which does not work, since the C3100 uses a 2.4.20 kernel) and somehow interferes with the IR interface. Once I deinstalled it, everything started working again.

I got an irda question.  I tried beaming my vcard to a friend with a pocket pc and it didn't work.  He could beam his to my zaurus and it would show that it recieved it but it doesn't add it to the address book.  Does anyone else have this problem?

I apologize if this is a bit off topic, and isn't a solution to the topic, but to stop Netfront from trying to connect, I just load a local picture file (*.jpg) and Netfront just opens this picture when first launched.

I use Netfront to do my reading offline. I just save htm/html pages on my desktop and xfer them to my SD card for later reading.
