Hi!
I've read some review that if you preform hardreset the microdrive inside Zaurus is emptied (set to factory default?). Is it true? Is it true for other roms (not Sharp)?
Kind regards,
Raul

No. It's maybe true for the c3000, I don't know.
-
Raul,
no, that's not true. The "Documents" partition is
untouched.
With the search function you may find posts from
people with a reversed problem: They want to sell
their Zaurus and search for a possibility to remove
all personal data / documents.

Thanks
About the "Document" folder problem - you can't format that partition? What about some hdd hexediting?
And you always could delete all data from the files and just write the empty files, don't you?

It depends on what you mean by "hardreset". If you push the reset button inside the battery compartment, then the files don't get erased, but if you do a factory reset from the japanese menu screen, then the second and third partitions of the microdrive are reformatted and restored to the settings that the zaurus was shipped in minus the dictionary files which you have to copy back from the cdrom. Personally, I think this is a stupid option and hence, I hacked it so it would not do it anymore. This only happens on default Sharp based ROMs that have not been modified/hacked. Other ROMs like pdaXrom for example do not have this feature enabled. I have tried this feature on the C3000 but not on the C3100. Unless you want to wipe everything before selling your unit, I don't see any other usefulness for this feature.

Hi all,
sorry, looks like i was totally off track today.
Meanie is right ! If you perform what we call a
"reset to factory defaults" using the "OK"+PwrOn
menu in japanese, the Zaurus will also wipe out
everything on your documents partition.
