Title: How Can I Do This? (flash 3000) On Winxp?
Post by: lareya on March 10, 2006, 02:42:36 pm
Okay,
this is what I would like to do.  I totally trashed     my brand new (bought used) c3000.  I need to take out the 4g hard drive and replace it with the original files, so I can have a working CK, instead of a lovely brick.

Now since I am going to take it out, I would like to just put in my 8g CF card instead.  So, Is this correct procedure?

1st I go to TriSoft and d/l their ck flash image. C3000-2005-03-18-12-30.zip
2nd I place this unzipped on my 8 gig CF card thru a card reader
3rd I place the 8 gig back into my C3K Z and start it up   (voila a running c3k)

Does this sound correct, or am I going to have to do something else? Right now my 4g card is totally hosed, and I can't get into the diagnosis menu to do anything. I can get into the flash menu, but - I can't fdisk my drives, I have tried multiple times to do it - but nothing works.  (see my sad     experiences here (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=17986&hl=bricked))

Thank you,

Lareya

Can you not install pdaxrom for example (like on your c860) , and this will recreate the necessary file structure to give you a working system? You would need a 128mb sd or cf card...

yeah, you can put the 8 GB card into your C3000, and flash it with the C3000 beta2 pdaXrom.  just put the beta2 files onto a SD/CF card and flash it using the flash menu.
it will format your entire flash card to use for pdaxrom and install it there. the 16mb nand will only be used to boot the kernel, so no more 4mb /home limit like on SharpROM
