Title: Battery Options
Post by: Storm on March 19, 2006, 12:12:10 am
I have an SL-5500, and the battery life is beginning to reach the point of diminishing returns (<1.5 hrs when doing routine tasks like reading e-books or listening to podcasts). I figure its downhill from here.

I always thought the battery selection was a bit silly for the 5000/5500 series, with a 950MAh battery, and while looking online tonight, I found the following:

EA-BL11         3.7v      2000MAH      LION  ZAURUS C1000, C3000, C3100, SL-C1000, SL-C3000, SL-C3100

EA-BL06         3.7      950             LION     ZAURUS L-5000, SL-5000, SL-5000D, SL-5500, SL-5500G, SL-C5000, SL-C700, SL-C750

EA-BL08      3.7      1700                  LION     ZAURUS SL-5600

Has anyone ever succesfully gotten one of the higher-capacity batteries to work in the 5500? Since it appears a battery purchase is in my future, I would rather have the BL-11 or the BL08. The voltage and battery composition match, but I'm not sure about size, fit (conductor location, etc) or a myriad of other issues.

I figure the size of the BL08 is about the same as the BL06, as the form factor is the same...

Can someone share their success/failure stories?

Thanks,

No, the BL08 (used in C760/860) is almost twice the thickness of the BL06.

BTW the BL11 is rated 1800mAh, and is the same size as BL08.
