Trying to line up both into in terms of functionality, roughly. So according to http://kakaku.com/sku/price/003030.htm (http://kakaku.com/sku/price/003030.htm) and the street prices of accessories:
6000W (Yen 79,411) $678 + 6G MD $120 ~~ $800 total
C3200 (Yen 61,480) $525 + CF WiFi $40 + CF BT $60 ~~ 625 total
I'm not optimistic that sharp would add wireless connectivity to the next zaurus release. So I'm very interested to get a 6000W before it becomes dinasour and extinguishes from the market. Anybody else as interested as I? The current price from conics and streamlinecpus are too high for me > $850 shipped. I'm thinking about asking my relative in Tokyo to get one for me. Does Akiharaba have a better in-store price for 6000W than the online price? Do they have 6000W in stock?

well if the 6000 goes the way of the dodo bird then it will be harder for you to find replacement batteries. All the clamshells can use each other's batteries so the supply should be around longer. What you gain with connectivity, you also lose with storage. 128MB flash space is not something to sneeze at. I run out of space on the 6000L quite easily compared to my 3100. I guess if you were to go non-stock rom, you could install all programs to sd or cf, but would OZ or pdaxrom support the internal bluetooth?

Stack the batteries. They can be found if you look for them. Got some myself :-)
The warm battery change is a nice feature of the 6000 - you simply push switches, change your battery, and keep working.
I don't think that's possible on the clamshells. Having to plug in a cf to get wifi is also hard to imagine for me :-) I would lose it/forget it/etc.
Different zauruses for different uses...

6000W for me. Well if $$$ was no concern. I have 6000L and like it much better than C series. I do prefer the landscape layout over the portrait but all in all i prefer the 6000. I would go for the C3200 as a second unit. The avaliablity of ROMs is greater too.

well, for me, if I had to choose between a SL-3X00 and a OQO, I would pick the SL-C3x00, but if I had to pick between a SL-6000 and OQO, i would pick the OQO. The clamshell design just does it for me

I would pick the C3200... hands down... I have had to many "PDA style" handhelds and they just doesnt appeal to me anymore...
if I had to purchase another Zauri and there was a 6000 on the table and a c700 for the same price... I would get the c700...
Clam shells all the way!

I would like the clamshell models better IF they had the 4 inch screen, and wifi. But since they don't yet, I prefer the 6000.

guys,
it's like asking the best linux distribution or which of vi or emacs is the better.
hint - there is none, only personal preferences. some tools are best suited for some jobs.
In the ER, I could not have had a clamshell - it wouldn't have survived. The 6000 was the tool, with everything I needed. Now I have a 'desktop' life, a clamshell could be nice, to sit on the desktop, and to read email. If I have a 'field' life again, I'll need a portrait mode pda again, to read ebooks.
Therefore I am considering a clamshell Zaurus (that or a small base which could hold my 6000 :-)
My conclusion so far - even if the form would best fit my new needs, they miss far too many features currently. wifi is the bare minimum IMHO.
I won't take one until it has at least bt,wifi and gsm - which I could try to hack too :-) In the worst case, I can put a microdrive in my 6000 if I want, and I have an external BT keyboard much better than the tiny keyboard.

I switch batteries on a sl-c1000 OK, providing I have external power connected during the swap.

The warm battery change *is* nice, but a small external battery pack is also not that hard to do. If you have enough room for extra batteries, you have enough room for an external battery pack.
Stocking up on batteries is OK except lithium ions degrade with time and not use. Sure you could slow it down using a refridgerator.

When I get time I am going to try converting my 6000L into a W by adding the bluetooth module. However, to really supercharge the 6000 we need to add more RAM and flash. If we had working WPA for the wifi, it'd be truly excellent.
The 6000 works pretty well as a SIP phone with minimal effort, given that it's got microphone and speaker, it makes for a useful tool that way.
