People have been expressing dissatisfaction with the GPE calendar and asking for kopi for GPE. kopi is available for pdaxrom so why can't that code be ported to GPE? I remember someone saying that they had got the kopi alarm with wake from suspend working under pdaxrom so it would be great to have that working under OZ too.

Because kopi isn't based on gtk? You probably mean "why isn't kopi/x11 in the x11/ feed from openzaurus".
Anyway, there are 2 seperate issues at hand:
1) people are dissatisfied with gpe-calender, but don't bother to tell the gpe devs (gpe@handhelds.org or #gpe on irc.freenode.net)
2) kopi lacks an x11 version in OE
Issue one is garanteed to piss off developers and can be solved without much effort, issue two can be solved by looking at bugs.openembedded.org for the x11 recipes.

Why there is no kdepim/pi for OZ/GPE is simple and I already wrote few times about it. Do some searching
