Sorry if this is in the wrong category, but I really want to buy a Sharp Zaurus 5500 or 6000
Are there shops or where is the best place to get one? I´ve already checked eBay.

Hey,
you have different options. The SL-5500G (German) isn't sold anymore, so you have to buy it used in ebay ... !
I have sold my old 5500 on ebay half year ago. There should be some offers over the time.
The SL-6000 was sold by trisoft (www.trisoft.de) but isn't anymore. Trisoft has only newer models. I bought my SL-6000L in USA in ebay.com. Very nice contact and with paypal np with payment.
The best option and cheapest, i think, is to buy via pricejapan.com. Look here in the forum for experiences.
Or you try http://www.linuxontour.de/ (http://www.linuxontour.de/) and make a wtb (wantToBuy)thread.
If you have more questions you can PM me in german!
Greetings Bedman

May I ask why are specificly looking for "PDA" style units? I know I'm not the only one that would try to talk you out of getting this unit, because I'm 99.9999% sure that in a few months will be thinking... I wish I had a keyboard...
If you looking for semi-support, *hardware wise*... the C series is a good model to look at... plus you can still swival the screen to portarait mode if need be... plus still have the keyboard just in case... the only difference with the 6000 is you get a larger screen and a certain model of 6000 you get wifi on board...
Good luck with what ever choice you make...

Do you know whether I can switch the keyboard layout to german on the newer models? The Zaurus wouldn´t be very useful without support for german umlauts and the Y/Z keys swapped.

You can get the latest models e.g. from [a href=\"http://www.handheld-linux.com]http://www.handheld-linux.com[/url]
Keys are not swapped so you have to learn Y and Z of an american layout. Umlauts are available e.g. through FN+a, FN+Shift+A.
