Title: Using Av500 For Video Storage Device From Sd Card
Post by: 10smom on April 17, 2006, 02:30:08 pm
I would like to put the video from my Sanyo hd1 video camera, which uses SD cards, onto the av500 for temporary storage and possibly viewing.  Does it have a SD card reader slot?  If not could I plug in a Sd card reader into av500 and drag and drop data so I can continue to use my video camera w/ second card as 1st card is being copied?  Is it possible to view the unedited mpeg 4 files on the av500 or do I have to convert 1st?  If this is not best option for what I want to do, do you know better options? I would perfer not to lug laptop around and I need more storage space.

The secondary USB connection on the av500 is there to connect digital cameras and other devices to trasfer over media files. I'm not sure if your camera is compatable and I have not heard about any USB memory card devices that will work with it.  Check the archos site or google around to see if your camera has the capability.

Not too sure if you can view your videos directly.

You'll need a card reader and i've tried many from friends and they all work. Thing to note is that you've to insert the Media card to the reader first before plugging it into Archos. It can also read powered portable harddisk but the transfer rate will kill you! USB 1.1 speed for the host port.

It'll be much wiser to purchase a OTG USB bridge (USB 2)and use it to transfer files on the Archos USB port (PC connection port). Most OTG Bridge requires fixed folder to folder transfer but archos can easily help to create the folder anywhere, anytime.

Cheers!
