Title: Maxima For Pdaxrom
Post by: pkoprowski on April 17, 2006, 03:38:57 pm
Hi,

Is there a ready to use Maxima package for pdaXrom?

So far I've found only one for Cacko (on Cacko feed) it works
fine on my Cacko powered SL-C760. But I consider switching to
pdaXrom. And so I would like to know if I would still have
Maxima after changing the rom - it is the main app on my
Z, so without it I see no point to switch the distro...

In particular is there any chance that the one available on
Cacko feed will still work?
(it is here: http://web.mol.ru/~zaurus/feed/maxima_5.9.1-1_arm.ipk) (http://web.mol.ru/~zaurus/feed/maxima_5.9.1-1_arm.ipk))
Can anyone try and report?

Thank in advance,
Przemek

Do a search on the forums.

Here is the version I used:
https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=10065&hl= (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=10065&hl=)

If I remember right, it has no GUI, it is just command line based, and so it should work on either SharpROM based ROM's or pdaXrom.

I could be full of it though, it has been a while.

I go try this way!
I got all files and deps for build maxima and wxmaxima, but I got a error on one libgmp.... related about gcc 2.95... but I found a gmp ipk on unstable FEED... I go retry...

Maxima needs a lisp implementation, like gcl, clisp, sbcl ....
tried gcl, but this needs gcc 2.95

i compiled maxima (the link in the earlier post) and i used clisp for the lisp implementation. In order to c ompile it i needed to use the onboard compiler so i suggest you guys do the same for pdaxrom.

I localized a bug in configure script on GCL.... this not reporting gcc 2.95 error now... but now I got
checking "for size of gmp limbs"... Cannot determine mpsize ....

I using native compiler...   OK... I go try with CLISP
I trying with GCL, hey CLISP needs TETEX? or I can compile this wit.hout TETEX?

----------------------------------XXX--------------------------------
libsigsegv 2.2 -> Builded
CLISP 2.38 -> Builded, but only with BASE module.
--------------- i18n, regex and syscalls not compiled (due ERRORs, I go try later)

Now I go try build MAXIMA....

----------------------------------XXX--------------------------------
MAXIMA 5.9.3 -> Builded

Now working on wxMAXIMA

I installed wxmaxima, maxima, libsigsegv.  I did not yet install clisp, but seeing as how maxima runs, I shouldn't need it.  But what wx** libs do we need, and where are they?

LIBSIGSEGV provides  garbage collector for CLISP ... but not needed at all
CLISP is a dependence for MAXIMA
wxWIDGETS and MAXIMA are deps for wxMAXIMA

wxMAXIMA uses wxWIDGETS 2.6.x

For get wxWIDGETS 2.6 you need pdaXrom 1.1.0 beta3 or use beta3 FEED

Where?  I'm looking at the feed now, and see no wx*  nor libwx*.

I'm looking on  [a href=\"http://mail.pdaxrom.org/download/1.1.0beta3/Zaurus-Cxx00/feed/]http://mail.pdaxrom.org/download/1.1.0beta...rus-Cxx00/feed/[/url]

If I have to go to beta3 I will, but that will take me a bit until I have the time to deal with potential problems.

As always there are 2 official feeds for landscape Z's, one dedicated to CXXXX (optimized for iwmmx and other specifications) and another dedicated to CXXX.

WxMaxima works for me. Good luck
