Well, I'm pretty much entirely confused, so here's two questions.

I've just bravely bought a C-1000 from PriceJapan, i.e. it's still in Japanese. I have two problems, only one of which really matters to me personally, but both of which could matter to people generally. If anyone can help I'll happily accept assistance via e-mail or 0439989938.

Problem 1

My preferred instructions on how to convert to Japanese into English are those of [a href=\"http://www.wbcd.org/computing/zaurus/part_12.html]http://www.wbcd.org/computing/zaurus/part_12.html, since they explicitly mention the C-xx00 rather than just the C-xx0. But they ask me to "Open the terminal", which I have no idea how to do on a Japanese Zaurus. There's an icon shown on the page, which I can't find. I suspect I'm being blind.

A possible workaround here is to use the Conics conversion procedure.

Problem 2

I can't get the sync to work while it's in Japanese: it obviously finds something, and the Zaurus reacts to being found, but "An error occurred during data communication". That means I can't download onto the Zaurus SD card as required by http://www.wbcd.org/computing/zaurus/part_12.html (http://www.wbcd.org/computing/zaurus/part_12.html). I'm using the downloadable 5500 sync software, since it's Anglophone. Both Zaurus and 5500 should be on default connection settings, is that not good enough?

I can work around this by using my digital camera as an SD card writer, but the problem might still qualify as worth answering for others' benefit.

Thanks for any assistance.

it is no problem.  do this.

1.  install this software. mmc convert and reboot.  then your z is in english

2.  then go to my webpage and download any of the themes available
[a href=\"http://www.zaurusthemes.org/content/z-defaults.htm]http://www.zaurusthemes.org/content/z-defaults.htm
and i like this one specifically since its more neutral
http://www.zaurusthemes.org/content/zaurus...xxx_1.5_arm.zip (http://www.zaurusthemes.org/content/zaurus-icons-oslinux-cxxxx_1.5_arm.zip)

3. then download this one and install.  do not install before the themes.  if you change any of the themes, you need to uninstall and install this one.
https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...storage+english (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=13992&hl=photostorage+english)

then you are ready to start off in any direction you wish.  Just to get you started.  If you want more information, just look at my signature, has some information.  If you want to look deeper into your z, look into user "meanie"
fantastic site.
