I have a C750 and am about to order a 256mb SD card so I can flash it with a new ROM.
Are there any brands that are best avoided?
It seems that it\'s recommended to flash with a CF card but I can\'t afford that and and SD card (curse of the £450 PDA...) and I already have a CF WiFi card.
I\'m also uncertain of the best rom to use. I have a Sitecom WiFi card (worked with OpenZaurus on my 5500 and works with the C750 retail rom) and an AirCable BT adaptor (seems to not need drivers and works with the C750 retail rom).
I do need gaim to work (which seems broken despite my efforts for the retail rom) and also I\'m hoping to install the IBM Opera 7 ipk as Opera was much better than Embedded Konqueror and NetFront last time I used them. The ability to read word and powerpoint files would also be handy.
Thx for any suggestions

Forgot to mention... what\'s the max speed SD card the Z can use? They seem to run up to about 32x now, I was wondering how how fast the reader in the C750 is, and if it was worth the extra. ($65 for a 12x vs $100 for a 32x).

In the uk the 32x lexar is not much more than the standard card (a few £\'s only). it\'s also not much (if any) faster based on my tests.
You have to ask what it is 32x quicker than? if it is 32x quicker than an ancient 16mb card, then so what all newer cards are quicker than an old card.
It\'s just a marketing gimick IYAM, or the zaurus bus cannot handle the extra speed. My card reader (usb2) also didn\'t seem to read/write any quicker with a 32x card than the standard labled card.
YMMV

I\' d advise to stay away from sandisk.....corrupted a 256M(seems to have problems withc7x0 series).....other than that one is as good as another.

Actually, if you search the old devnet forums for the past year or more you\'ll find many threads bemoaning problems with Sandisk, 128mb and larger. Some with simple solutions, others with root-canal-like solutions, some apparently insoluble. It\'s not just the c7x0 series...
It\'s uncommon to see someone post to the forums with corruption or read-only or lost files with lexar, kingston, etc. Of the most visible brands, only Sandisk has a history of /many/ problems, mostly just with Zaurii.
