My simpad battery is giving in and now refuses to keep it's charge for more than 10-15 minutes at a time.
I'd like to replace the battery and would like some advice on options.
Where can I buy a replacement simpad battery (I'm in the UK)?
Can I replace the battery with a 3rd party part - i.e. I've looked around and some radio control batteries appear to have the same specification and might well fit into the case. Has anyone else tried this approach?
I'm assuming that as the battery is so old and is not holding charge any more that it's only fit for the bin.
Regards,
Phil B.

I've been keeping that bookmark for quite some time, it says you can use 4 cheap Nokia batteries to replace your expensive SIMpad battery:
http://palmtopmagazin.de/board/tablett/173...?subaction=list (http://palmtopmagazin.de/board/tablett/173955.php3?subaction=list)
to summarize, these batteries are 3.6V, so you mount them in serial by groups of two, and them mount the two groups in parallel.

Thanks for the information Fred. I've had a look at the link and it looks interesting. I'll try and pick up some batteries from ebay and see I can do.

Hi,
could you please make some pictures about the procedure? It would be amazing to put a good description on opensimpad.org.

Hey guys... any news on this stuff?
Has any of you rebuilt their battery using this method?
It would be great if as nice suggests someone could post a couple of pictures or a detailed howto about how to do it...

Hi,
i did a english description on opensimpad.org, but it is really short. the problem is, that no one who did it made pictures.
I eventually could make a small wirering schematik or you could just ask if you didn't understand something.
It would be verry nice if you do the stuff and make pictures and a better descriptin.
my accu is still in a verry good condition so i don't do it at the moment. eventually we could find the connector oem.

Sure, be my guest - just attribute it to me. I also have the wiring diagram on a piece of paper which I need to transcribe (when I get time). It's pretty obvious though when you take the batteries apart.
