Title: Cf Problem - Newbie
Post by: agiuga on May 27, 2006, 05:03:39 am
I am a newbie to the Sharp Zaurus and have bought a 4 gig CF card. If I create a document on the sharp I can save it to the card. However trying to copy a file from Windows XP laptop when connected to the Zaurus it makes out that its copying then nothing appears. Is it a format problem. Should I reformat somehow to FAT32 or NTFS, but will this stop me being able to save Zaurus created files?  Thanks for any help

its not that nobody wants to help, there isnt alot of 6000 users.

check permissions and make sure your cf isnt damaged.  Try using a compact flash reader instead.  also try it on another pc.  I have a built in compact flash reader on my pc.  Another thing, most card readers are incompatible with most compact flash out there.  Make sure you have something compatible.  I have expirienced this myself and i just change the hardware.

agiuga,

Welcome to the group. Newbies are welcome here.

Don't presume that no immediate reply means no body will ever reply. I, for one, was out of town for the weekend. (It is a holiday weekend here in the USA.) Just be patient with us.

Go here:
http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1631 (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1631)
and download and install Tree!Explorer QT. When it installs it is in Japanese. Just click on the third box over (with the "V" beside it) and go down to the word "Language" and select English. Now navigate to /mnt/cf. Highlight /mnt/cf in the top pane and go to "File" then to "Properties". On the security tab, give read, write, and execute privileges to everyone that you want to.

Or you can do this by typing into a console the command:
chmod 777 /mnt/cf
