Title: Firefox Download Manager Fault
Post by: dodge on May 28, 2006, 06:30:26 pm
hello,

i have a problem with firefox 1.5 installed on SD Card. When I download any file and Donwload manager is opened, it takes about 97% CPU and whole firefox freezes.

only chance is to kill the process. if I unmark in Edit/preferencies/download >>open download manager...<<, there is no problem, but I dont have information of downloading progress :-(

i tried to reinstall firefox again but with the same result.

Does anybody else has the same problem?

Any idea of sollution,

thanks

Yes I get the same problem, as does most users of firefox....

The only solution given was to "not show download manager" which doesnt bother me one bit... I just watch my wifi led until it spots blinking like crazy... :-)

But I haven't seen a fix for the issue, nor have I investigated to find one on my own.... But if you do find something let us know...

Best I did was to use mozilla---  its download stuff worked fine, and the firefox plugins should work, too.  Worth a shot if FF is bugging you.  I ended up using both, for different reasons

Please just tell always what Beta environment are you speaking about showing your bugs.

I only recently started using Firefox on my Z and never noticed this problem, but when I tried to download the new JavaVM packages from Cortez the download manager came up and after downloading a bit it started eating CPU cycles. But the strange thing is that it's the first time it has happened to me because the download manager lists a number of files that I had downloaded previously (and I had no trouble then). It's like Schrödinger's cat, the trouble isn't there until you start looking for trouble

to correct a past oversight.  I was using beta3 with the described problem on firefox.  I thought being in a beta3 thread might have led others to suspect as much.  128 megs of swp partition didn't seem to help.

Does anyone have bigger than 1g sd working on beta3?

I doubt whether swap has anything to do with it.  FWIW I have a 256MB swap partition and still have that problem.
