I installed a bunch of programs, firefox, thunderbird, gimp, gaim, and a couple of others. I tried using firefox, and the icons were too big, made it basically unusable, same for gimp and gaim. Is there any way to make the icons smaller? I'm running a 5500, so the resolutions not the best, but it works. Suggestions? If there isn't, do you have any alternatives? Like versions that were meant for the Z maybe?

well, most images are under /usr/share/pixmaps, so you might be able to resize them, but that does not guarantee that the apps will not just rescale them to be bigger. it depends on how the apps were programmed. for the mozilla based apps like firefox and thunderbird that are based on the xul engine, you can extract the jar files with unzip and resize the images.

that's an awful lot of work, to do that for every icon there. Is there something similar? I've got dillo installed, and that seems to fill the need for a web browser. I'm looking for a way to check my e-mail, and preferably IM as well. I haven't actually tried a gaim window, so I'll look into that. How about photo manipulation?
