Title: Cf Wi-fi Not Working
Post by: McChubby on June 14, 2006, 01:55:26 pm
Hi guys,

Another noob question, this time wi-fi...

I can easily configure my CF Wi-fi card to work in GPE (Hentges), but however much I try fiddling the network settings it won't establish a connection in OPIE (Hentges).

I'm posting this in OZ/Common, since I might be missing something fundamental here (being new to all this) but surely the linux core is the same in both GPE and OPIE (just the UI different?), so why wouldn't my wi-fi work in OPIE?  I'm guessing there's something subtle in the network settings dialogue that I've got wrong.

P.S. I'm using a Pretec PrismII(2.5) CF wi-fi card, WEP enabled, no SSID broadcast from router.

Regards

M

Wifi is part of base system so card SHOULD work in both enviroments...
Code: [Select]
root@c7x0:~# cardctl ident
Socket 0:
product info: "Pretec", "CompactWLAN Card 802.11b", "2.5"
  manfid: 0x0156, 0x0002
  function: 6 (network)

is my card and it works nice - best after removal of orinoco stuff
