Title: Is My Cf Wifi Suppose To Be Plug N Play?
Post by: theb on June 15, 2006, 05:12:57 pm
I just got this card and when I plug it in, its just blinks once and thats it.  The zaurus recognizes it but is the light suppose to be on and blinking if no network is around?

I went  into the network settings and can't get it going.

Is there anything I'm missing?

I'm not sure if this is the same thing that happens, when I plug in my GPS CF card.
My card is always suspended aftet the light flashes once.

Open console and type:
cardctl status

and if it's suspended, type:
cardctl resume

When I do that is it suppose to stay blinking because mines don't.

That was just a suggestion.
Also look here and see if it's supported.

If it was suspended, and "cardctl resume" resumed it. Try connecting it, in the network applet, just after you issued that command.
There are a lot of Wifi related configs and setups posted here.

I don't have a wifi card, so I was just comparing it to my GPS card.
Do a search on Wifi, and look in the Networking and Security subforum, I'm sure there will be some solutions in there somewhere.
Sorry, I couldn't help more.

IIRC that card works out of the box with the original Sharp ROM. It also works with pdaXrom. When the light is blinking it is (AFAICT) trying to establish a connection, if it connects then light will stay on, if no connection can be made then it'll stop blinking after about a minute. Not sure whether Cacko rom does logging, if it does have a look at the system logs and also dmesg to see whether they shed any light.

Alright guys, I got it to work.

Since I didn't have much on it, I just reflashed my c1000 and now it works.  Before I flashed it, I tried to connect to a network and it wouldnt initialize but now it does and it also connects.  Oh...I reflashed to the exact same rom incase your wondering so it does work out of the box with cacko 1.23.

thanks for the help guys.

Occasionally my Ambicom wifi card just keeps on blinking, as if it is trying to connect, but never actually does.
If I eject the card, reboot the Zaurus, then try again, I am successful.
Maybe this is a faster "fix" than a complete reflash?

how about a "cardctl reset"?
