Title: Best Source Of Gpe Apps?
Post by: omro on June 17, 2006, 05:13:00 pm
Hi Guys,

Am really starting to love OZ/GPE thanks to the current RC of the Hentges Rom.

Is there a good place to look for GPE apps and their descriptions and whether they'll run on this Rom?

Thanks

I've never used the hentges rom, but have you looked at th OZ feeds? Often times there's at least some description of what the package does. I'm assuming since youposted in the OZ/GPE forum, most of those packages will run on the hentges?

I'd simply assumed GPE apps ran on any GPE platform with the right number, i.e. GPE 2.6 apps on 2.6 and 2.7 apps on 2.7 etc.

I thought that the Henteges 'ROM' used Opie for the UI...?

In any case, do 'ipkg update' and then 'ipkg list' to see what's available (there will be lots of output) from the standard feeds (all of these apps will run on the Henteges flavour, assuming it's the latest one). No matter whether it uses GPE or Opie, the feeds should be setup so that it will read from the correct one.

You can also use wildcards - 'ipkg list *opie*' and so on.
