Title: Can Ms Windows Mobile 2003 Be Installed On Tosa?
Post by: jbruno on June 20, 2006, 04:58:06 pm
Does anyone know of a way to install Microsoft Windows Mobile on the SL6000?
This appears to be what the HC-6000N is, but it's only available in Japan.

What would it take to get this working (in English) on my Z?

You would need to buy a HC-6000N then do a nand flash backup.  Though to be legal you would need to buy a Windows ce liscense first.

Hmm.  I was hoping there would have been an easier way than that.  What would they do if somebody had to reinstall or if they wanted to upgrade? I would have hoped they would supply a disk or somethign, but I can't find anything on msdn.com.

I have the MS OS licenses already with my MSDN developer subscription.

Does anyone know if there is an install out there somewhere?

Unless you can get one off Sharp's site.  Do they even sell the WinCe ones yet?

Even if you have got a very particular version of MSDN that covers embedded development and use of the 'Platform Builder' I doubt that this would cover OEM licensed components like drivers and apps written by Sharp for the .NET platform for this device. Remember also that MSDN licenses do not actually give you the right to use the Operating Systems or Applications for 'production' use - only for use whilst you develop products.

I think any 'positive' outcome from your point of view, short of being able to buy and hence relicense the image from Sharp, has some distinctly non-legit overtones and I would discourage you or anyone from posting details about where such an image may be obtained since this is pure Warez talk.
