Title: Mohanoffice2.0
Post by: gr8ful on June 21, 2006, 05:30:54 pm
I just saw this notice posted on the Hancom Mobile Office site.
http://mobile.hancom.com/en/index.html (http://mobile.hancom.com/en/index.html)

"Mohan Office 2.0 Coming Soon!!
We will soon announce the next version named MohanOffice2.0 which will enhance current version. "

Anyone know how long this has been posted or have any information about the changes to be made to the suite?

If they are still planning to deliver this upgrade, I think it is a positive sign about Sharp's future plans for the Zaurus.  Since Hancom works so closely with Sharp, one would think that they would have some knowledge of whether Sharp was planning to abandon the Zaurus and focus its efforts on say the W-Zero3 platform.

Subject : Mohan Office 2.0 Coming Soon!!

I am in the process of getting a new Zaurus SL-C1000 and I have previously owned a SL-5500 and a SL-C760.  I've enjoyed using you Hancom Suite and I
noticed this announcement about Mohan Office 2.0.  Will this new version run on the newer Zaurus platforms (SL-C1000, SL-C3200)?  Do you have an approximate target date for the release of this product?  And, will it be available for purchase by existing Zaurus owners or will it come installed on new Zaurus devices?

Thanks

Very interesting!

The significance is in the phrase "will continue development for the Zaurus device". If anyone has inside info on Sharp’s plans for the Zaurus it would be Hancom. So their confidence bodes well, methinks.

After all, if the Zaurus had reached the end of the road then why would Hancom bother?

Or perhaps I'm clutching at straws

I received another email from MohanSoft:

"Dear Sir,

Yes, we are planning to release new version soon.
We will support new device and existing user will upgrade without charge.

Marketing team
MohanSoft"

No release date given, but I suspect they are getting close.  Is it possible that this upgrade will coincide with a new Zaurus model release?
