Title: Unable To Mount Sd Card
Post by: komoman on June 28, 2006, 05:30:23 pm
I purchased my C3100 a few months back and have been very please with it      Until recently that is.  Shortly after purchasing it, I flashed it with the Cacko-Lite ROM, and have slowly been adding programs.  I purchased a 2GB SD card mid May, and installed the tetsu driver for large SD card support.  Everything worked fine for over a month.  About a week ago I noticed that the SD card wasn't mounted, so popped it out and put it back in again.  Nothing.  I tried a 256MB card.  Nothing.  Thought it might have to do with the tetsu driver, so uninstalled that.  Nothing.  Reinstalled the tetsu driver.  Nothing.  I just flashed the ROM, so now I'm back to the basic Cacko-Lite.  Still no SD card.  When trying to mount it manually through the Konsole, it gives me the error "mount: Mounting /dev/mmcda1 on /mnt/card failed: No such device"

Does anyone have any ideas on what's going on here?  Any thoughts, ideas, help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Al

Did you re-install the SD card driver listed in this post?

After installing this driver, reboot your C3100

Before I installed that driver, I tried inserting a 256MB card.  Nothing.  I then installed that driver.  Nothing with both the 256MB card and the 2GB card.

Does both sd cards work on another unit?  card reader?  laptop?  pc?  you may need to reformat these to fat 16.

Yes, they both work in 3 different card readers on 3 different PCs.  The 256MB works fine in a camera and a 5600.  I have tried reformatting the 2GB card.

some sd cards tend to die after using for a while.....reminds me of the sd card 128mb i had for the sl-5500.  It quit working after only one week.  but worked fine on the pc card reader.

OK, I've tried several SD cards, that have never seen a Zaurus, and still nothing.  I'm thinking it's not the cards.  Any other thoughts?

Thanks,
Al

nand restore

what brand are you using?  pny seems to be very stable sd card.

nand restore

What do you mean by that?

The 2GB is PNY, and the 256MB is Kingston.  Others that I've tried are Centon and Sandisk.

By the lack of responses, I take it that there is nobody that has any other suggestions on getting this working.  At this point, I'm thinking it's hardware failure.  Does anyone have any resources for 3100 parts?

I agree with the above.  I would try to restore the unit to the Sharp default by using a NAND restore.

Also try to reformat the SD card with a small hidden partion in the beginning.  Look at my SD card problem thread in the general discussions forum.  I don't think your having the same problem though.

Good luck

I also read somewere about adding an extra small partition at the beginning of the sd card.

I had to return one of my 4gb sd because it just stoped working all of a sudden.  worked fine on other devices but not on the zaurus.  I have a 2gb at the moment trying to find a real stable sd card for it.  I never tried the extra partition but its a good idea.
