Title: Beta3 And Xmms
Post by: Shoryu on June 29, 2006, 12:54:32 pm
Hi
i'm on a SL c1000, i'm root
i just installed beta3 and tried xmms but i can't add or play any mp3 (there's not even a bug report), nothings happens, the playlist editor is still empty.
is that supposed to work just after the installation or do i need to install other packages  or do other things.
i looked into the xmms configuration. It has libs which were packaged in the installation.
input: libcdaudio, libdumb-xmms, libxmmsmad, libxmmstremor, libtonegen, libwav
output : disk writer/esd/oss

i tried with ESD and OSS mixer but none of them work (i don't have any audio device in the oss config)

thanks for your help

i have mplayer and it works just fine... i don't know why xmms won't play mp3. Is the mp3 playing feature disabled on purpose on xmms?

you need to install the mad packages, ie libmad, xmms needs to load them to play mp3s. mplayer is statically compiled, it doesn't need extra libraries.
