Title: Skipstone As An Alternative Web Browser ?

From the homepage:
SkipStone is currently under heavy development, but it's progressing quickly and coming along nicely. It provides a nice configurable interface, bookmarks and all of the other mandantory browsing features.

Downloading is handled by SkipDownload by way of a default, a GTK+ front-end to the famous Web downloading utility, wget. However, if you prefer to use other download utilities and managers, this option is configurable.

Mail and external URL handlers are also handled by external applications that can be configured to the user's choice, leaving SkipStone to do what it does best -- browsing.
As anyone tried this browser ? Does it support frames, java, ssl ?
Could it be ported to the Z ?

Any comments is welcome

yeh..  our seeming to be stuck at newer gecko verions could get worrisome.

which brings up the issue...again... maybe we should look harder at another rendering engine if we can find one comparable?

afaik there is the gtk? engine...weak and unsstable (if osbbrowser is any indication). the kde engine as is it has big dependencies, but maybe can be tweaked....and gecko, which rocks but doesn' seem to complie on pdax anymore?  also what about quickie wysisyg web editing? possible in KDE w/ quant plus or gecko with seamonkey/composer.

any one know another route? have a glimmer of hope for keeping up with gecko?

This is the engine that the web browser on the Nokia S60v3 phones are based on. webkit is based on safari which itself is based on khtml (ie konqueror).

That sounds like a direction we should seriously consider...

This was one of the programs I wanted to compile. The tricky thing is only the Qt port is actually mantained, and Qt 4.3 does not compile very well in pdaXrom...
...Well that is another story.
