As you can tell from the title of this topic, i have just figured out that all of my PSP chargers work with my AV500.
I have an iGo multipurpose charger for my notebook computer. These chargers will allow you to simultaneously charge portable mobile devices. So I decided to see if they had a tip that would allow me to charge my AV500. I did a search on the iGo website for the AV500, and the tip it showed me was for the PSP. My curiousity was peeked.
So I pulled out my PSP chargers and compared them to charger that came with the AV500, and sure enough everything (voltages, etc) matched up. I then plugged in the PSP charger and hooked it up to the AV500. Everything worked great!
I will admit that this isn't something to get overly excited about. But, I am very happy that i do not have to buy additional chargers for my new AV500 now. My PSP wall and car chargers work great. I also have a Pelican Power Brick (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007U2CZE/103-8357115-3979034?v=glance&n=468642) that I am curious about as a battery back up.
I guess that this will help some of you out as it makes a whole line of chargers readily accessable. All you have to do is go out to your local electronics store or toys r us, and pick up a charger.
Hope this helps some of you

I have had your post in my mind for the past week or so. I finally bought a PSP power supply at Best Buy. It is a Pelican brand. The tip is just a tad too large for the AV500.
Has anyone tried the combination USB cable/DC Power/Mini USB ables?

In case you are not aware, Pelican has had a safety recall of those batteries. Check out this site:

(Unless these are a new defect-free batch.)

This was not the power brick. Just the AC Apdapter.

Tim,
Sorry to hear about the Pelican charger. I have the Sony branded charger that came with the PSP.
Also, I have tried the Datel cable that i think you are talking about. This is the link to the one i bought:

I does work. One tip plugs into the usb port and the other into the power port. It is a little bit of a tight squeeze though. You might need to shave the plastic on one tip a little bit. I have left it in long enough to do a full charge, just long enough to see if it actually worked.
