Post by: baptista on July 14, 2006, 05:04:57 pm
Hi. May I backup the 5500 with the program included in the v. 3.13 ROM that appears to be made for the 5600? It make the back in the desktop, and appears to be interesting. Any help? Thanks

I've backed mine up using the backup/restore program, and this has worked for me.  The file it makes can even be viewed on your PC if your archiving program can do compressed tarfiles.  You must have a 32 meg or larger CF or SD card.

Is there an archiving program that can be installed on the Zaurus that will view the backup file?
It would be nice if there were.

7-zip works great for that on the PC.

It's only a tarball, do:
tar -tf name-of-backup
to view... or do:
tar -xvf name-of-backup
to open

I know, but it would be kinda nice to be able to do a "Send To" with Tree Explorer, and have it open up un a GUI.
