I installed beta4 on my C3K1 an hour ago and I still can't get my D-Link CF card to work, or any CF card for that matter!
Whenever I insert it into its slot, the light blinks once and then dies! The python CF/SD card utility detects my SD card properly, but in the CF section it shows the microdrive... I can mount it and unmount it but that's all... No CF cards for me! :-(
Can someone help me? I think I'll go back to beta3... :-/
-
Actually if I check the mounted filesystems with 'mount' it lists my 128MB CF card mounted alright... But my wireless card is a no-go... :-(

pull your wifi card... then plug it in... open up the shell and type dmesg
If there is a way you could post the output to the forum it would help...
it seems like it isnt recognizing the card because there is no module set for it... or it isn't finding the firmware...

I'll try that.
For now I'm back to beta3, where everything works out of the box... :-)

Ok, here's the dmesg output after I've inserted my 660w Wifi card:
pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 1
pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia1.0
hostap_cs: setting vcc=33 (constant)
hostap_cs: setting vcc=33 (from config)
Checking CFTABLE_ENTRY 0x01 (default 0x01)
IO window settings: cfg->io.nwin=1 dflt.io.nwin=1
io->flags = 0x0046, io.base=0x0000, len=64
hostap_cs: Registered netdevice wifi0
hostap_cs: index 0x01: Vcc 3.3, irq 137, io 0xc4840000-0xc484003f
prism2_hw_init: initialized in 200 ms
wifi0: NIC: id=0x800c v1.0.0
wifi0: PRI: i=0x15 v1.1.1
wifi0: STA: id=0x1f v1.7.4
wifi0: registered netdevice wlan0
Notice that the prism2 chipset is detected properly.
If I bring up the interface with ifconfig wlan0, still nothing...

Some more info on the problem:
It seems I can 'ifconfig wlan0 up' or 'ifconfig wifi0 up' to enable these interfaces.
If I bring up wifi0, the green led on my card starts flashing.
If I bring up wlan0, wifi0 also gets enabled. The green led flashes.
I have the correct settings in wifi & lan, yet I can't get it to connect...

Hi,
Well this is a shot in the dark, but I was online, and saw your post. Note that I
use beta1 on a SL-6000, but perhaps try:
killall dhcpcd
/etc/rc.d/init.d/wlan start
dhcpcd wlan0
ifconfig
These commands are what I have put in my "wifup" script, based on the 6000 tutorial post.
I hope it helps, and/or gets you connected! John

Nope, this wont work for me, as I said the correct driver module is loaded for my card, I just can't seem to able to make it connect to my home wifi...

Nobody uses the 660w with beta4? :-(
Can anyone tell me where the Lan & Wifi settings are saved? I create a new profile named 'wlan0', enter the correct settings, however the card is not initialized - if I manually 'ifconfig wlan0 up' then the light comes on blinking, meaning it cannot connect.
If, afterwards, I enter Lan & Wifi settings, they have reverted to the default profile...
So I think the problem is that the settings are not correctly saved...
