Title: Is Cacko 1.23 Removing Samba?
Post by: ethan on August 03, 2006, 06:26:27 am
dear all,

as I know the default sharp rom in SL3200 has build-in samba server
but when I upgrade to cacko rom 1.23 (it's really great) then I can't find samba server
there is only smbclient in cacko feed, not server

may I ask where can I download samba server?

I've got Cacko 1.23 full on my C1K and samba is there, you haven't got Lite have you?.

It's not started as part of boot up but via inetd.

Check that the smbd and nmbd lines aren't commented out in
Code: [Select]
/etc/inetd.conf (they were OK my Cacko install).

Code: [Select]
ps ax | grep inetd should show you that inetd is running.

Make sure
Code: [Select]
/etc/samba/smb.conf has something sensible in it or it won't start.

Make sure you are su'd before trying to run samba manually.

you could also do a netstat -a to see if the samba port is open.  Samba is included at least in the cacko full.
