Title: Trying To Reflash My Zaurus
Post by: k0in on August 10, 2006, 12:49:48 pm
Hello, Zaurus users!

Some time ago I burned my power adapter and now I charge directly my battery by external charger. But I am a little bored with my Cacko, and wanted to check out pdaxrom.

So, the question is - is it still possible to reflash the Zaurus? When I try, it says something in Japanese (after I select SD), that should probably mean that it still needs some power adapter to be plugged in.

Is there any hope? Or only XQt?

no sir... there is no bypass in the sharp bootloader... UNLESS!... someone really nice... flashes pdaxrom and creates a NAND back up for you...

And then you can get into DM mode by just popping the battery in while holding D+M... and do a NAND Restore... so the answer is YES!

can't you borrow an AC adaptor from your PSP or a friend's PSP?

No, I did not want to explain it better, but actually I burned the power supply chip INSIDE zaurus, so I can only live on external charger

Ok, I found all intstructions and now I think that the only staff missing is CF card (dunno why, but it does not want to backup to SD???) and somebody's backup

Dear People! Please, help me. I would be very grateful!

Here at Trisoft's (http://www.trisoft.de/en_c1000howto.htm) you can find a Sharp NAND backup... better than nothing

No, you can use SD... but it will have to be a compatiable one... I would say anything equal or less thing 1gig... and formated fat...

Someone one correct me if I'm wrong on the SD size...

Yor are right, probably the problem was I had Fat32, not fat formatted SD.

Still, no NAND backup WITH pdaxrom, such a pity! Don't you have it? =)

Backuping my Cacko - it takes time...

Yeah, probably not many people will bother making it. But if somebody does - it would be very, very nice of them =)

The easiest way would be through something like [a href=\"https://www.yousendit.com/]https://www.yousendit.com/[/url]

And I think that this file should not be big if zipped. Am I right?

Burned inside the Zaurus.

Does this simply mean it won't charge, or it won't even detect a charger? When I reversed the polarity on my Z, it wouldn't charge, but I could still plug in a charger to flash it (It still detected a charger).

Thing is,
many of us would like a pdx rom for our machines.  So the next time people crash their machines, and have to start over, before you really make it personal, then upload it.

Thanks,
Lareya

It won't charge. But not sure about detecting...

Can't help you folks with C3000s & such, but if you (or others) need a clean NAND for the C860, I'm willing & able to help.

Just tell me where to get the originals for the OS you want (if I don't already have them .... G).

Probably it's not such a bad idea - to create ROM backups for every model and main ROMs? The question is where to host them.

If you find someone who will keep them available for public download, I'll make clean C860 NANDs of systems people want to try. I'm on 53.3K POTS, however, so my bandwidth / speed are limited.
