Title: Notecase
Post by: daniel3000 on August 16, 2006, 09:57:45 am
Hello,

it seems quite some people here use notecase under pdaXrom for outliner purposes / notes etc.

However, the keyboard shortcuts use a lot of keys which are not natively available on the zaurus (INS, F-keys etc).

So, how do you efficiently use notecase?
Is there a modified version which fits the Z keyboard better?
Does anyone have a keyboard mapping set up for easier notecase usage?

I like the approach of notecase because it uses HTML as its file format.
However, it is a quite simple program. Maybe too simple for my needs. We'll see.

Thanks
daniel

Maybe search the (pdaX)forum for notecase, I edited my xmodmap to add a "insert" key after somebody told me how to do that.

There are also other outliners available :
- tuxcards
- treeline
- ...

I've compiled some others for pdaXrom (but not uploaded yet) :
- minido (todo -outliner)
- knowde (outliner with great search and sort options)

Have fun,
Chero.

You can try out the simple trick here: https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...notecase&st=15# (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=16816&hl=notecase&st=15#) (Post #19)

BTW I've just compiled the latest 1.1.7 ver. and will upload it together with some other goodies very soon.

Sorry, but latest version is 1.1.9
Uploaded by Miroslav (author) to Sourceforge just a few days ago.
I compiled it, works well.
I'm now discussing with Miroslav about enhancements for Zaurus optimization, file import filters etc.
Maybe we can make notecase the Zaurus outliner of first choice....

And thanks for the keymapping tip.
I have already mapped Insert on Fn-Shift-backspace (i.e. Shift-Delete)
However, since it is already shifted, it does not allow for inserting a child item.
Will try your solution, thanks a lot!

Now, how to remember all the new key mappings??

Oops. The dev of Notecase goes really fast. Will upload that also soon.  Thanks for the news!

As for the keymapping, I just pick them up in a few minutes. Well, I supposed it is much simpler than those in Vim and Emacs, isn't it?
