Hi to everybody, I wish to know which type of speed is recognized in a c1000
I've seen that are many SD cards with some speeds such
KINGSTON SD ELITE PRO 1GB - HIGH SPEED ( I THINK 50x )
SANDISK SD Ultra II 66x 1 Gb
SanDisk Extreme III SDâ„¢ 1GB
Kingston Secure Digital Ultimate (SD Ultimate) - 133x
and the last standard
kingston 1GB Secure Digital Card
Do you know which can run at the declared speed and which not ?

if i were you and was runing the stock kernel or cacko then i would just go with the cheapest, the Z generally cant get high speed out of SD cards

do you know the maximu speed he can recognize?

The speed question is probably something that can be calculated however the issue is transfer to and from the card and not write speed internally to the card.
Default drivers will use 1 rather than 4 channels to transfer since they run in MMC mode. Since you won't be able to push data at the card faster than the superfast memory can write it there is a break point where it is useless to go for a faster card. I can't tell you what this is though
This is actually a software issue AFAIK and the Z does have hardware capable of supporting all 4 channels, its just that the hardware is undocumented.

Is there more speed available with a Compact Flash Card because they don 't run at the MMC mode?

ok thanks, I know the speed depends on the hardware .... all is based on the hardware...
But do you know what type of speed the zaurus hardware can run?
Because it's not useful to buy an SD 80x if they are supported only to operate at 30x
I need only this cofiguration to decide what type of SD to purchase...

Don't bother getting the fast SD cards since you won't be able to realize the additional I/O on the Z. That's the simple answer.

buy the cheapest one you can find for the particular size you are looking for. all the currently available SD cards are way faster than what the Zaurus can do anyway unless you buy a very very old card from ebay like a 16MB SD...

I just bought a 2GB SD card from PQI for $22 after rebate of $16 !!! Damned good deal. It's a 150x card.
Can't say as I notice much/any speeding up of transfers in the Zaurus, but it allows for faster transfers in the PC card reader.
If Moores Law holds for the immediate future, I reckoned we should be able to get a $22 SD card that holds two Terabytes in about 10 years ;-)
