Title: Mythtv Remote Control With Simpad
Post by: rokstar on August 23, 2006, 04:23:07 am
I don't know if this is the correct forum, but i was googling and found the page http://opensimpad.org/index.php/Main_Page (http://opensimpad.org/index.php/Main_Page) while looking for a touch screen remote control solution.

My idea is to use a simpad (siemens or swisscom) with a flashed Linux version as a remote control for myth tv.

Has anyone tried this yet? Any experience?

if mythtv uses lirc then you should be able to install lirc on the pad, there are some utility commands in lirc that allow you to send remote control cammands out a serial port so that you can use lirc to send and recive ir commands

all you would have to do is write a helper app to send them (bash and xdialog for a quick and dirty solution ?)

Sounds good. I'm looking to buy one on ebay, they are quite cheap.  Around 100-120 €.

I let you know if and how it works.

Thanks.
