Hi all,
the latest GPE image seems to work fine on my pad - congras to the builders.
However, I am not getting happy with neither the gpe-mini-browser nor with dillo2. I saw that a version of firefox is available for openzaurus. Does it also work on the Simpad? If so what is the way to install it?
Fred has a version of Thunderbird in his repository, but i cant get it working. Is there anybody arround who managed it?
Thanks for all hints

The download page has no button for Simpad, and I don't see it mentioned here:
http://familiar.handhelds.org/releases/v0.8.4/ (http://familiar.handhelds.org/releases/v0.8.4/)
However, the familiar.handhelds.org frontpage says: "Familiar v0.8.4 for the iPAQ h3600, h3700, h3800, h3900, h5400, and h5500 series, and Siemens Simpad." Did they change their mind?
/me is confused...
Do the resources of our poor beloved pad get close to allow for a firefox at all?

FYI, minimo (lightweight version of firefox) is now available in the Familiar feeds.
A good email client is sylpheed, but you should consider using webmail through minimo instead (unless you have lots of flash space).
You will also find a lightweight PDF viewer (epdfview), an updated version of sylpheed, and other stuff in my "updates" feed for Familiar:
http://devernay.free.fr/hacks/opensimpad/v0.8.4/ (http://devernay.free.fr/hacks/opensimpad/v0.8.4/)
I tried to put as much information as I could on installing Familiar on the SIMpad in the Familiar wiki:
http://handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/SimPad (http://handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/SimPad)
feel free to add more information there

Hi Fred,
thanks for notification and thanks for maintaining your repository!
I had a look at Minimo: it looks promising even though it seems to have problems with displaying frames. However lets see which way the development takes.
There is one more thing I wonder about: Everytime I reset my Simpad and everytime it runs out of energy the /etc/resolv.conf gets lost and I have to set the nameserver again. Do you know why that file is not kept in the permanent memory?
Thanks and best regards
Thomas
