Hello all, forgive me for stupid questions...lol.
Ok, should be recieving my zaurus 5600 in the mail any day now. Got a linux device for something new to tinker with. I have never used a linux device of any kind, so i have no idea where to start.
Could you all please let me know exactly what im getting myself into, explaining in a way to someone that hasnt the slightest idea of anything linux related?
Thanks,
Alex

The Qtopia GUI is fairly self explanatory. What you\'ll want is to copy across and install the terminal app which will give you access to the guts of the thing (think DOS prompt, though in this case it\'ll be a BASH prompt).
There are lots of HowTos, most of which will be relevant.
This was one I found by googling for \"using bash\": http://wihok.8m.com/linux/rhl10.htm (http://wihok.8m.com/linux/rhl10.htm)
This one lists commands: http://www.ss64.com/bash/ (http://www.ss64.com/bash/)
BASH is the Bourne Again SHell BTW

You have opened my eyes. I followed the link and suddenly started to be able to run shell commands and also begin to understand the connection between shell commands, linux commands and application programs.
It took me back to computer scince degree some 20 years ago and running programs on a DEC running Unix.
thanks

Lardman, I\'ve had my 5500 since last September and had skulked the DevNet forums and now this one in an effort to learn more about my Z.
I have repeatedly noticed your posts on a multitude of topics and have found them always to be knowledgeable, helpful, and never condescending.
I would like to thank you for your dedication and willingness to share your knowledge with others.
Thanks,

I\'ll like to say thanks to Lardman as well for helping out the newbs. And thanks for sharing the usb-storage package. I hated the file transfer program from Sharp. It\'s so slow and it makes/breaks connections for every action! Talk about productivity...
