Hello, I know that it is discontinued, but has anyone had any luck using a PROXIM HARMONY WIRELESS 802.11B COMPACT FLASH card?

Hello, I know that it is discontinued
So? I couldn\'t most of the toys I own if I bought them new ;-)
Try the compatibility list at www.knightfire.com. If that doesn\'t list it, try a google search to find out which chipset it uses. I know some of the early Proxim wireless gear (which was not 802.11b) used chips that aren\'t supported, but I don\'t know about their more recent offerings. There\'s good support for cards based on the Prism chipset. I\'m not sure about the others: not enough hours in the day to keep up with all of them. As with anything Linux-related, pay careful attention to the dates on any comments you read: if they\'re more than a year old (especially if they\'re along the lines of \"It works, but not well\"), the odds are good that things have changed since then.

There are two different Proxim Harmony cards. There\'s the Harmony 802.11b card (newer), and theres the Harmony HRF (home rf) card which is not compatible with 802.11b. I just thought I\'d mention it.
The 5500 with ROM 2.x had a driver for the HRF card. I had trouble getting it to work. It may have been my fault though, I had a Proxim Symphony base station, which was supposed to be compatible, but I got intermittent connections.

I\'m using the Harmony 802.11b card, and it works extremely well....with one caveat: the antenna covers the stylus silo and sound jack. I have 2 other wifi cards that kind of work...but not always. The Harmony always works. I typically leave it on my nightstand, which is farther away from the AP than other areas in the house.
