When I got my new Z I order a metal stylus and screen protector from fig labs.
I've just lost my second stylus. The first one lasted a mere 30 minutes until it fell to the floor and the nib popped off. This is from a desk to a soft carpet floor. I wasn't expecting that. Well the people at Figlabs sent another one and I have to say that it managed to last a whole month until just now when I pulled it out of the Z and was left just holding the end. Not impressed.
Of course to complete the story I must say that I've also given up on the screen protector. When I placed it on the screen I managed to get a couple of specs of dust underneath it. After a while I couldn't bear it anymore and decided to remove the protector to clean it. Apparently it washes clean. Yea right. After very carefully washing it I was just lowering back onto the screen when I noticed that it wasn't at all clean. You see the underside is sticky, naturally, so that it adheres to the screen of the Z. Of course this tends to attract dust and so by removing it I had got even more dust on the sticky side. Any attempts to clean it resulted in an even more unfavorable condition than previously.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as would any notes of sympathy!

LOL!
I have like 7 styluses. I'm still using the one that came with my zaurus(plastic 100%). When I use to use my sl-5500, i destroyed around 4 styleses. I still have the metallic ones but I opt to keep those intact. I currently use the plastic og one with my c-3200.
Now for the screenprotectors, I use to use the belkin ones that had glue on it. Worst thing ever made. I got some free ones from streamlinecpu when he gaved them away. It is simply the best one and virtually invisible. I will tell you that these are hard to put on.
My first expirience was so funny. after getting a new screen protector, the screen protector I put on wouldnt stick. So I threw it away and ordered another one while my homemade screenprotector was being used. The second one was placed and for 4 months, it wouldnt stick. I was so pissed off! I started posting how bad they were and man was I wrong. when the screen protector fall, I noticed that I forgot to pull the second layer off(it has two of them). The layer i pulled off was the sticky one and man, i was so lucky when I applied it because it had no dust or bubbles. that c-1000 with that cover was sold to one of the guys here..legodude. anyway, i was given a free one from streamlinecpu when they were giving them away. I am still using it on my new c-3200. no dust or nothing. I became an expert.
anyway, what I did was I cleaned the screen so good in a very moist environment...something like a sawna room. then i removed the layer on the screen and placed it on the z. no bubbles..well yeah it had some bubbles but i pushed them out easily with a squeegy. still using it and no problems.
another thing you can try is use tiny tiny drops of water spread accross the screencovering all surface areas. one bubble of water is enough to cover the whole screen when squished but i used alot of them(be carefull cuz this is for idiots like me) when i placed the scren over it, I just pressed from center out while soaking the excess fluids. worked!!! This method is dangerous and I don't recommend it at all. Im just telling you what I did one time on one of my z's

Cool!! That's pretty funny! Although I didn't mention that actually it doesn't matter anymore because I've a small spec of dust in between the glass and touchscreen (I assume) so it looks like I'll need that sauna room to remove it (I've had a few vodka's (neat) the wife is a bad influence being ukrainian. She still drinks like a girl though )!

I dont have a screen protector on my Zaurus but my other PDA that is not a clamshell does. I apply it in the bathroom with the door closed after running the shower for a little to get some humidity in the air. Then using a credit card and a paper towel, i squeezed the few drops of moisture out from under the protector. Unless you or sombody you know has access to a clean room environment, i think that is your best bet.

Just wash the screen protector in warm dish washing water to get rid of all the tiny dust particles. Then you just need a bit of practice to apply it. I had troubles applying a screen protector on my first Zaurus as well, but doing it on the second one was easy. I guess the practice on the first one paid off
As for the stylii, I never had had any problems with the Zaurus ones. I've have quite a collection of those stylii, and the only one that broke was a palm pilot stylus which I accidentally sat on.

The screenprotector that came with the Zaurus SL-C1000 that you sold me is still on there. You did a decent job getting it on. I will have to get the same kind.
I still got the stylus is came with. Lost it for a few weeks once. I got like 5 Palm styli around, lose and find 'em.

It should stick out.

Well the pentopia stylus seems to be doing a good job so far. The extendable barrel is useful too. Haven't got around to putting the screen protector back on yet though.

I am currently using my T3 stylus as well. Juts abit for my Akita, but heck, I don't mind it.
The thing about protection screens. Use those matte tapes to stick one over it (over the edge facing out). This would allow you to lift up the screen without touching the underside.
If there is a spec of dust, cut another strip and use it to dab the dust. The matte tapes have more adhesive than the screens, so it will remove the dust, but do not have that strong an adhesive to remove the stickiness of the screens altogether.
*DO NOT* touch the sticky edge of the screen. Finger oil etc will smudge the screen and you won't have a pretty protector screen after that. 8)
