Title: Hentges 3.5.4.2 Rcs Available
Post by: CoreDump on September 20, 2006, 06:21:49 am
I've uploaded completely untested 3.5.4.2 Hentges images:
http://hentges.net/tmp/do_not_use/ (http://hentges.net/tmp/do_not_use/)

Please note that Akitas version is not T2-RC* but T1-RC1, I only noticed the problem when the upload was finished.

New machines (spitz / collie) will be added once they are compiled.

EDIT: Please note that Collie runs an up-to-date 3.5.4.1 w/ kernel 2.4

Coredump:

I can't get the Poodle version of Opie to boot. I used the contents from 'hentges-opie-image-poodle_T1-RC1.tar.gz' along with the updater.sh. After flashing and resetting, the power led goes out and the screen remains blank.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
radioz

hi coredump.

firstly I must say that hentges and altboot are great. thanks for all your efforts.

may I suggest some improvements so that it becomes even better? I really like altboot and I modified it so it can boot off loop images from /media/hdd as well since there is a lot of free space there and I rather use my CF slot for wifi or bluetooth and have a ejectable SD

I noticed when booting off a loop image, if its a freshly created image, during startup, it asks whether to use /home or create one on the image. How can you trigger it to ask again if you change your mind and want to use /home on the image instead of the physical one?

I also love the added fluxbox in your Hentges GPE. It makes things so much easier to have a taskbar for minimized windows, etc.. It would be great if you could also add the fluxconf tools as well. on a site note, how do you enable accessx functionality in GPE/Hentges?

That is always welcome

A flexible way to handle present HDDs is on my ToDo, no ETA tho.

Deleting /etc/.image_conf.done within the image will re-enable the configration.

Once 3.5.4.2 is shipped (w/o fluxbox btw) I'll have a deeper look at fluxbox. Dunno about accessx, what's that supposed to be?

One more here.

It's some kind of kernel problem. Changing zimage.bin whit older version gives a warning.

Isn't it confusing that OZ 3.5.4.2 uses 2.6.x as kernel for collie and hentges 3.5.4.2 kernel 2.4.crappix? I can see the vein in hrw's forehead starting to throb when all the bugreports come in saying "3.5.4.2 with 2.4.crappix doesn't do <foo>"

and for accessX: [a href=\"http://www.disability.uiuc.edu/accessx/overview.html]http://www.disability.uiuc.edu/accessx/overview.html[/url]

At first look everything is ok.

May be is good idea to remove "/" as option for instaling cardfs. After that there is no plase for cariblation of touch screen. Only for sl-5x00 models ofcours.

The color for text about altboot password is too dark, I think. I find it hard to read it.

Splash screens are very cool

P.S. havent use oz from 1.19 ore something.

P.S. Where are cardfs images?

P.S. One beer for the one who gave the idea mail led to lork as hdd activity indicator. Great.

This is an ancient Opie bug, can't do anything about it......

Right, while the color is perfectly readable on the VGA screens, they are less than perfect on the SVGA devices. Will have a look

Heh, in the subfolder "cardfs" of your machine directory: http://hentges.net/tmp/do_not_use/collie/cardfs/ (http://hentges.net/tmp/do_not_use/collie/cardfs/)

There is still something in screen and backligth. When I try to switch off backlight with aplet screen goes off too. When I use ison in Setihgs tab screen switches off one level obove "no backlight.

My Wifi card,TRENDnet TEW-222CF, is not initialize by the Z. I think it was dual power card, 3.3V & 5V. May be this is the problem.

I supose that i should report this in some bug tracker but i dont know where. I supose these are related with 2.6 kernel.

hi

I was wondering, is there a way to get the installer to reformat and resize the flash partitions before flashing the ROM?

If I move from Cacko to Hentges, I always have to resize the flash partitions using Cacko's installer first. Anyway that can happen automatically on Hentges? Saves me a few trips to the desktop with my CF. :-)

Just a thought. No biggie.

Oh and abiword still opens with that weird mauve behind the page.

While this would be a very welcome feature for Hentges and of course OZ, I don't see that coming anytime soon.

Good to see another Hentges release. Has the suspend-by-cancel-button issue been resolved in this release, or do we still need to use the menu item?

Thanks,

I have installed the Opie version onto my Poodle (PXA250) and the sound does not work.  When I installed RC1 version it worked and I had to use the commandline app to adjust the sound.

Any suggestions or ideas?
