here's the camera brochure:

spot the Zaurus!

Is that a Zaurus attached to the camera ?
I heard about that ridiculous 160 Megapixed digital camera
http://slashdot.org/articles/06/09/25/1346231.shtml (http://slashdot.org/articles/06/09/25/1346231.shtml)
and never bothered to look it up - just another of those just-because-we-can-do-it department products with no real common-user(read "me") advantage to it.
But what's a Zaurus doing out there with that ridiculous camera ?
Note : I think this panoramic camera is different from the 160 megapixel "rid-duh-culous" camera.

no, it's a ginormous camera attached to a Zaurus
maybe I should have put a smiley there in my original post!
yes, they are using a C1000 to control the camera!

I'm all for it.... The more products that come out with a zaurus attached to it the better sharp will support it....
-
Nice - apparently Zaurus accessories can be even more expensive than ipod accessories (I thought my 24'' imac is the most expensive accessory I would ever see but this would make it look like pocket change).

Hi,
yep, we also had fun seeing these camera (and now we know
why they needed the Zauris _that_ urgently ).

No problem. The most expensive "official" Zaurus accessory
that we know of is:
-- drumroll --
The SHARP AR-507 with integrated "Zaurus interface" (no joke).
It's a relatively small printer for the Zaurus with just 102 kg and
60 x 70 x 77 cm for the main unit. With all accessories it's a real
bargain for round about 35000 EUR
Unfortunately no longer produced and we don't know if the newer
models even still support the Zaurus. But we had a good laugh
after we saw this in the service manuals.
Spec sheet here: AR-507 specs at SHARP USA (http://www.sharpusa.com/files/cop_dow_AR507ss.pdf#search=%22ar-507%22)
But you won't see the Zaurus interface in these specs, because
this option was only available in Japan.

zaurus is for the rich, eccentric hobbiest, elite, rare users, etc.
I just love it when i whip mines out and the"oh wow" and "glossy eye" come up. They just come right up to me and ask, "what is that? a mini laptop!"
That camera is just too crazy! I would own one if i could afford it. 160megapixle? crap!

Of course as soon as rich Z users get this they will start bombarding Sash etc with requests to squeeze some more cycles out of poor kernel cause the editing could feel a little sluggish

way down in the specs is written:
Control device Sharp Zaurus or other handheld PDA devices; connected to camera via WLAN
looks like Zaurus is just one option ...
