Title: Help!, My Z Is.. Dead?
Post by: E.J. on October 05, 2006, 12:29:05 pm
Hello everybody, my problem is as follows: i'm the happy owner of a SL5500 since a long time ago, during that time i have used many
different roms like cacko's one an OZ whitout problem, about a week ago i finally decided to install OZ 3.5.4, everything went whitout problem
and i was very satisfied with OZ, then, some day i get home and place my Zauri in the craddle to charge it and suddenly the two leds turn on!!!

I panicked and then removed the zauri from the craddle and then the lights turned off, but it seems like the harm was already done...

Now the zaurus doesn't turn on not matter how much time I keep the button pressed, I tried to flash the thing again with other roms
and every time it looks like the flashing goes alright (two leds turn on, after ~3/5 minutes they turn off)but is the same... she doesn't wake up.

Help, Please

Sounds like it flashes okay, so something's still working okay, is the battery dead or the screen?

Can you ssh in/ping the device when it's in the cradle, etc.?

I wonder whether an ospack flash would make any different too...? (it would reflash the whole of the flash, not just the rootfs and kernel, so may cure some other flash corruption). Just a thought though, any other ideas?

Thanks for the answer

Well, yesterday night i tried to boot her into the Diag Menu (D+P+Reset) and she woke up (jay!!), i made some checks and everything seems to work, but then i noticed something, when i plug the power cable out the thing dies again, so.. it seems like the battery may be the problem.

That would be weird because when the Zauri stopped working that battery was almost new (~1.5 months), it's a shame i already disposed the old battery.

Now I'll have to either buy a new battery or find someone who can lend me one to test my Z (not very likely....).

It also might not be the battery, but the charging circuit.
