Which set of OE metadata are you using?  org.openembedded.oz354x I assume?

There may have been changes to these data between the release images being built and your trying.

What kind of differences are you seeing?

I see a lot of noisy messages on startup about modules that cannot be found.
The size of bootstrap-image-3.5.4.1-c7x0.rootfs.img is 5936K vs 6608K of original initrd.bin.
And yes, I use org.openembedded.oz354x. The local.conf file is attached.

show usr/lib/ipkg/status file

difference in size is normal - some things changed after 3.5.4.1 release
