Title: Mplayer Video Troubles
Post by: SadaraX on October 12, 2006, 06:09:54 pm
I am using Opie 3.5.4.1 on my Zaurus 3100. I downloaded and installed mplayer version 1.0pre8-3.4.4 with the Opie package manager.

I am trying play a small 1MB 15fps XviD video. It plays the video in with strange verital lines throughout the whole picture. Also, the picture is only showing about 1/4 of the total video, just stacking it one on top of the other. Said another way, it is only showing 25% video screen, but repeating that 25% four times, along with the very strange color banding.

This color banding looks like vertical interlacing, expect the video is not interlaced....

Sorry I cannot provide a picture, but it will not let me take a screen shot while playing from console...

Anyway, I have tried using all the options for -vo I can think of and the picture does not change. I do not know what to do. When I tell it to play with -vo fbdev, the video is good, but half of it is off screen and I cannot control mplayer at all. This bug has been reported in other threads.

Sorry for a possible double post, but I was recommended to post here for possible help.

Can you post the command line you're using and the contents of ~/.mplayer/config (iirc), please?

A link to the video might be useful too.

First, the problem seems to have disappeared and I really do not know why. Here are the files I was testing anyway. It seems the XviD CVS does not play well, but the normal XviD 1.1.0 plays okay.

Those are both files I tested. My config file is apparently completely empty.

Does anyone know a way to get fbdev to work? Because when I use it the playback is very smooth but it is partially off the screen and I have no system control until the video finishes playing. I would really like to use that -vo option. Does anyone know a fix for these problems?
