Title: Whats Up With This?
Post by: Legodude522 on October 24, 2006, 03:14:30 am
I was just looking around on an eBay store and I see a Zaurus.  But the screenshots of applications on it just don't make sense.  What ROM is this.  And how would I get this apps working?

Here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PDA-Sharp-sous-LINUX-ZAURUS-SL-C760-en-parfait-etat_W0QQitemZ130033579639QQihZ003QQcategoryZ8131QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem#ebayphosting) is a link to the Zaurus for sale.

that is pdaxrom.  it is the link right above the pinguin picture of the forums.  Those applications can run in pdaxqtrom as well under sharprom or cacko

As it says in the description, its pdaxrom. Looks like an older version, though.

I haven't been able to find some of these programmes for the Zaurus though.  The Index doesn't have 'em.

they're all in the feeds, look at the community page on the pdaxrom site

Thanks.  I haven't used pdaxrom before.  Still on Cacko.  I tried OpenZaurus once and it really screwed up my Zaurus.  Chresho helped me out on that one.

My advice:

Make sure you have a good NAND backup of your current setup before you start.

Spend a bit of time reading others' experiences.

Choose the right version ... beta 4 and the new release 121 seem, from what I've read so far, to be for experimenters. I'm still using beta 1 because its absolutely stable for me. Others seem to say the same about beta3 ... I haven't had the inclination to change anything on my Zaurus for quite some time, because at the moment, it just works.

As usual, your mileage may vary.

Good luck!
