Title: Any Experience With Auctions.yahoo.jp?
Post by: hvontres on October 31, 2006, 10:34:31 am
Has any body here ever tried to use auctions.yahoo.jp form abroad? I am looking at maybe upgrading to a used C-XXX series clamshell. Since e-bay bombed over there, it seems that yahoo would be the place to look.

Thanks for any help,

Yes, I have used it to purchase rare Japanese games in the past.

The problem is that most of the sellers will not ship abroad so, you will need to use a Auction Proxy Bidding Service like [a href=\"http://www.rinkya.com/faq_url.php]Rinkya[/url] or Mail Order Japan (http://www.mailorderjapan.com/yahoo-japan-auctions.html) unless you know someone living in Japan that would be willing to bid on the items you are interested in.

I used Mail Order Japan.  They basically let you use one of their accounts to bid on items that you want.  There is usually a 5% fee for the service and you must provide them with half of your planned maximum bid upfront.  They accept payment through PayPal only.  You can also pay extra for a sniping service if you want.
