Title: Is there any way to select the default font for SL-5500?
Post by: chyang on March 04, 2004, 10:28:24 am
I have some extra fonts files available, but don\'t know how to make them as the default font file for the GUI. I can only change the symbol link to my font file or just delete all the helvetica_*.* then it will try to use my font file.
Is there any easy way?
Thanks.

Actually you can. Install ZStyle which is now free: http://www.handango.com/sharp/PlatformProd...Id=0&catalog=80 (http://www.handango.com/sharp/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=423&jid=4DF442F7A5AD42271FB96D3B6436X14B&platformId=9&productType=2&productId=48898§ionId=0&catalog=80)

You can convert your own from TrueType fonts using this howto:
http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...g%20TTF%20Fonts (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpWiki&file=index&pagename=Converting%20TTF%20Fonts)
(I used the precompiled makepdf myself)

You can also hack it. Without using ZStyle, it will always use the Helvetica named fonts as the default font in /home/QtPalmtop/lib/fonts. So you can create a duplicate set of font files, give them the same file names as the Helvetica fonts and copy them over the files in /home/QtPalmtop/lib/fonts . That\'s how many people have created nice smooth fonts.

Thanks, tumnus, you are so kind.
Another question, how to create smooth fonts? I have tried to build it, it\'s not complete and seems to be hollow in the fonts or too ugly looking. I\'m interested in Cacko\'s cyrillic fonts, they looks nice.  Also, I have problem in merging different TTF fonts into one qpf file.
Maslovsky, Would you like to help me in this?

tumnus, other than using zstyle, it all ends up replacing default fonts with the new ones. That\'s what chyang already did
I\'ve tried Zstyle and I feel it\'s a memory hog and kinda slows down zaurus...
