I use beta1.
On my zaurus I often connect in internet with 3G over bluetooth or WiFi Lan.
3G has a speed of 50KB/s in download, but bluetooth is slow, so I go about 10-15KB.
Later I try to connect via WiFi (very fast, in college) and I see the same speed (10-15KB).
I know that not all of us have this problem.
I think is a some communication driver of CF module, but I don't know.
Some people with beta1 can confirm me their CF speed (over bt or wifi)?
Anyone knows the solution of thi problem?
Thanks of all.
-
Just to give some output....
beta2, beta3, beta4, rc121(beta5)... maxed out 314kb/s... I have never had an issue with speed...

So you're saying me that the problem is beta1?
-
No, he's telling you what he's tested.
I'm running beta1 (admittedly on an 860) and having no troubles with either bt or wifi.
-
Thanks for clearing that up pelrun...
Darth Sith, I dont know why your throughput would be that low... what are you using to determine this?
next time you are on your Z... do this...
# wget http://www.mv.com/test/paths.txt
It is just a 1Mb text file... no virus... I just found it on the net :-)
Let me know how fast it pulls down... Heres my results
--07:57:45-- http://www.mv.com/test/paths.txt (http://www.mv.com/test/paths.txt)
=> `paths.txt'
Resolving www.mv.com... 199.125.85.33
Connecting to www.mv.com|199.125.85.33|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 1,068,536 (1.0M) [text/plain]
100%[====================================>] 1,068,536 338.67K/s ETA 00:00
07:57:48 (337.54 KB/s) - `paths.txt' saved [1068536/1068536]
this over a 3Mbit DSL line... (Sorry I canceled Cable Internet, to expensive)

With UMTS over bt, download goes to 9.20KB/s....
Soooooo sloooooow!
Anyone with beta1 that can do this test?

Have you tried it over wifi?
this way we can determine if it is a BT issue or not...

Same speed over WiFi.
My cards are a D-Link.
-
What keeps you from using beta3?

Beta1 now is strongly personal now...
I want to try last release, but I'm never be able to install u-boot.
However I try beta3 soon, but I want to understand if it's a beta1 problem.
-
Ok, I have installed beta3, and the speed over bt is the same....
-
Note to self... Never buy a d-link bt or wifi card
:-) I dont know what would be causing this... I don't know how I would determine that issue since I'm running the lastest since I'm workin on that...
Let me see if I can find something...

Thanks.
However my phone is ok, it'a a bt 2.0 and goes very fast.
I will try connecting by phone over usb, and post my result.
-
Cool... let us know the results...

Ok boy. I've tried beta1. 3. 4 and rc121.
Same issue with speed with dlink 660W....
Then I want to change, so I've installed CACKO.
WIFI speed now is very high...
I haven't tested a lot bt, but also this seems more performance.
How it's possible? Kernel is the same with beta1...
I don't understand....
-
Hum .... I would'nt count your chikens before the hatch.
On my r121 I can transver over a bad wifi link (AP is upstairs in an old house with thick gratit walls) at 200Kb/s (transfered 9Mb file) using scp which also does encryption stuff that further reduces troughput (especially on a slow cpu {with respect to modern x86} like the one on the Z).
Your hitting the same problem over at least 2 different kernels series (beta3 and earlier use 2.4 and beta4 and above use 2.6) and probably even more kernel patch levels, wile other people seem to be unable to reproduce the problem.
Are you sure that in the customization of your pdaXrom systems you did something that you have not yet done also on your caco system or that your hardware is 100% OK ?
-
Sorry, but I give you a wrong information.
WiFi work well also under pdaX, the problem was in the lan (three lan I have tried...).
BT is very slow, so I say: don't buy a D-Link BT card!

hi
any news about this bad bt speed ? i've a belkin cf bt card and i also have this 9k/s transfer speed....any idea about how we could improve this ?
-
Belkin use the same driver of my dlink (if I remember right..).
No news about. Always too slow...
-
it seems to be the drivers :

Chero.
-
I read that page before I buy Zaurus.
Here is hard buy a cf bt...
However that driver don't work with Dlink.
