Title: Integrating Letux For Acer N30 Into Oe?
Post by: dhns on November 23, 2006, 05:39:19 am
Some of you might already have read that Guylhem currently can't push the Linux for Acer n30 project (Letux) as he originally had planned to do.

Therefore we would like to propose to merge the changes into the OE mainstream, but we ourselves are not experts in OE. So, I am looking for someone who knows OE, probably has an Acer n30 dozing somewhere (if not, let's discuss) and wants to help out.

What I can provide, are the kernel sources and all patch files needed to make a Letux distribution as described at: http://www.letux.org/releases/Letux%20n30.html (http://www.letux.org/releases/Letux%20n30.html)

Could you attach them to [a href=\"http://bugs.openembedded.org/]http://bugs.openembedded.org/[/url] (once DNS is back up for that) so it gets a bit more visibility? Over 90% of the OE developers don't read this forum.

Ok, works. But what should I enter there? It is a bug tracker and I would consider our proposal not to be a bug but a feature...

Every bugzilla has the severity "feature".

They better should [read this forum], shouldn't they?

Why should they read something they wouldn't find interesting? Please remember that the majority of the OE developers are not interested in handhelds or PDAs nor do they know what a Zaurus is.

In case you think "then why add it to the bugtracker if 90% doesn't like PDAs?", developers are interested in improvements to software they use (initscripts, busybox, X, etc).

That was my missing link...
I will watch out for that since I have never used bugzilla.

Zaurus machines are small part of OpenEmbedded. Most of developers never used such one. Many of them do not build for ARM architecture even.

I understand that for most of OESF people OpenEmbedded == OpenZaurus but this was true few years ago when OE was starting and after few months stopped to be true as people from other projects joined us.
