Title: Different Icons For Different File Types?
Post by: Capn_Fish on November 29, 2006, 03:17:51 pm
Is it possible to have different file types have different icons (under ROX)? My impression is that they're supposed to, but that the MIME types are screwed up (under properties, images are identified as text/plain). Has anybody done this?

Thanks.

You may want to try another icon theme... because it maybe that the default comes with a minimal amount of icons... I know that when I used the Gorrila iconset from http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/jedhead/ (http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/jedhead/) it seems like I got a better  variety of icons...

Can I just take the icons from my Ubuntu box, rename them, and paste them in the appropriate location?

Yes... when you change it you will have the option to say change for just that file or for all with that file extension.... just select the file... right click on it... i think it is in the app drop down... and just select icon i believe..

Many file types appear as text/plain or the like...I think this is why they all have the same icon now.
