Hi All,
I've been playing around with pdaXrom(beta3) and Cacko on a new Z, and decided to try the latest pdaXrom.
Installed Uboot which seemed to kick off OK, the screen scrolled showing "writing...." (or something similar) and then said rebooting....
...but it never rebooted, it shutdown and never came came back up.
Now there seems to be no life in it at all, no service menu etc to work with.
The *only* activity I can get is when powering up with C+D, I get flashing yellow and green lights.......and that's it, they just keep on flashing, what does that mean ?
Would be grateful if anyone can advise how I can resuscitate the Z.
cheers

So you did the U-boot portion... now it is time to load the OS
did you uplug... remove the battery and do the "Hold OK and plug in AC" step?
Late
PS. You can't brick a Z by means of Software (easily)

I did, many times, but the thing is dead. I've left it unplugged for several hours, will try again this evening.

Well that's good to know

Just making sure... no battery in... and no power source connected... you hold the OK key down... prior to pluging the ac adapter in... (battery still removed)...
Then while still holding down the OK you plug in the AC adapter?
Thanks

Well, I just did *exactly* as you say, but still nothing, no activity whatsoever.
Any ideas ?
cheers

I'd try to reinstall uboot (same procedure).
Make sure your card (sd or cf) is ok. I had to reformat mine a few times.
How did you copy the files on the card, I had to do it with different devices before I had success. Now I know my mini-sd-thumb-drive is the best.
I had to reformat the card between install of u-boot and install of the system.
MAKE SURE THERE IS ONLY ONE CARD IN THE Z.
Sorry, don't mean to shout, but I forgot to remove my cf and had to keep on trying.
You should at least see led-activity.
Don't give up,
Chero.

I only have one card in the Z at one time.
I used a 16mb SD card for U-boot and installed via the Service Menu.
I used a 1gb SD card for the OS, and have reformatted fat16 and fat32 via WinXP in a USB multicard reader. I guess the only other option I have is to stick it in a Camera and format it that way.
I guess I could also try installing from CF, and I have another camera to format that also, so I still have some options to try.
The worrying thing is that I see no sign of life at all, no lights or evidence that it's even trying to read the card (but the lack of lights might be normal).
On the other hand buttons C+D on boot gives flashing lights (but does nothing else), so something is working.

That's usual....
I have got several 'versions' of pdaxrom beta* on-hand so that different kinds of dogs can be flashed accordingly.
If one version cannot be flashed in one machine, try another beta 'version' until that beta version can be flashed in finally...

Still no luck, tried different cards and different sizes, formatted in XP and in camera, no joy. I'm convinced it's not even trying to read the cards, even the 16mb SD card that I installed U-boot from originally (via menus)
aw crap
??

I guess my last option is to download the NAND backup from Trisoft and restore that ?

Hi im new to these forums. i have the exact same problem. now i try to instal rom and it goes through the process but when its time to reboot, it goes blank and the hdd light goes on and it just stays like that. oh, and i have the 3200 and i previously installed cacko 1.23.
-

.....and just to confirm mine is fixed now too.......woohoo.
The trick was to use Fn + D + M to get the service menu, the Fn seems to bypass the battery charge check (seems mine was low). Did a NAND restore from Conics and now I'm back on Cacko 1.23.......which I think I'll stick with (no offence :-)
Anyway, thanks for the advice
cheers

I agree, I went back to cacko myself for a short time, just couldn't hack it and was straight back to beta3......

I tried pdaXrom once and was hooked. Never looked back. When I got my C3100, I didn't even boot into the Sharp ROM, just flashed straight to Beta 3.
